Evaluation After Doing the Advert Questionnaire

Assignment: Task 4
Be able to produce a television advertisement
It is difficult to get everyone to like your product, for example an advertisement, because different types of audiences respond in different ways to media products. Our advertisement was done to promote the book ‘The Definitive Guitar Book’ and makes people somehow interested in it in order to buy it. When were finished, we decide to do a questionnaire and gather responses after presenting our advert to audience of different people. We had 3 males and 7 females, ranging from 14 to 24 years old. They all gave their different opinions after watching our final product.
The advert seems to have fitted its purpose as when we asked if they are interested to buy the book after watching the advert six people said yes and 4 said no. After all that is the aim of the advert, in selling the product. Overall, our advert was understood and most of the people interviewed said that the 3 young men tried to impress the girl by showing their guitar skills. Even if the third man is a nerd and somewhat shy, the girl chooses him as her favorite as he is good at guitar playing. This is all because of this book; a book which makes you enhances your audience, especially targeted to guitar lovers on those interested in the instrument. In fact, amongst our interviewees we had a few people who liked the advert a lot as they are guitar lovers themselves.
Roughly, we kept to our original intentions and storyboard except for a few shots which we had to change because of the problem that we had because of changing the location. I think that the techniques that we used grabbed the audience’s attention in some way or another. None of the editing on filming techniques, genre, idea or style were rated as poor, but there was a variation of average, good and excellent ratings, with the highest ratings being on the genre used, idea applied and the style of the advert.  The advertisement got high ratings for its effectiveness, with 5 being the lowest and 9 being the highest. The most common score was 7 points. There were a few people who liked the advert as it is and there were a few who wanted to change something. The most common comments were that we should have made the third young man play longer and that the other two play worse music. It that no understood the technique behind this. We did this in order to pass the message that even if the third man played a shorter piece of music, he still impressed the girl because he read the book and his guitar skills are great.
Our work seems to have left an impact on our audience since no one found our production as dull. There were 7 people who found it as an average advert and 3 found it more appealing. Regarding the technical and aesthetic qualities of our production, there were a lot of people that our editing were excellent. We also had a few comments for the actors’ and actress’ acting and that maybe they should be better to play their role in a more convincing way. Overall, we are all satisfied with our production and we will keep in mind the feedback that we got from our audience so that we will do better on our next similar projects.
